Environmental education is often touted as a fundamental way of instilling environmental knowledge and stewardship among future generations. Upon completing my undergraduate degree at Southwestern University, I joined several non-profit organizations in the Atlanta metro area where I taught educational programs for children in Pre-K through 12th grade. These educational activities employed hands-on, experiential pedagogy to enhance students’ emotional connections to the natural world and provide tangible demonstrations of scientific concepts that they were learning in the classroom.
I have also developed and facilitated community programs for adults, including workshops on native plants and pollinators, as well as building and troubleshooting home vegetable gardens.
